Killed in Berlin attack

December 20, 2016 - Daliya Elyakim, 60, from Herzliya, was killed in Berlin truck attack and her husband Rami Elyakim was seriously wounded in the attack.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry announced that the Israeli Embassy in Germany is working in conjunction with the family to bring Daliya’s body back home to Israel. The couples’ children, a son aged 28 and a daughter aged 26, arrived in Berlin at the behest of the German police in order to provide DNA samples to identify their mother’s body.

Israeli President Reuven Rivlin said Thursday morning that “It is with great sadness that I received word of the death of Daliya Elyakim caused as a result of the terrible terror attack in Berlin. I send my condolences to the family who is at this moment at the bedside of Rami, Daliya’s husband. He too was seriously injured in the terror attack, and we are praying for his swift and speedy recovery.”

 

 “We remain united and determined against murderous terror which is attacking every corner of the world,” the president continued. “We will fight extremism and hate with all of our strength.”

 

The Berlin terror attack killed 12 and wounded 48. ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attack.
